Put Some Cupid In Your Decor For Valentine’s Day

It’s hard to imagine that we’ve already blown past Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s, and now we’re not only facing the final months of winter dead in the eye, but Cupid is just around the corner with his arrow of love just waiting to let it fly.  For some, Valentine’s Day is less of a celebration and more of a technicality, while for others, Valentine’s is an important opportunity to be with your loved ones or do something special for them.

No matter if your idea of Valentine’s celebration is a romantic dinner or a quiet evening at home, you can certainly put some cupid into your decor for Valentine’s Day and make your home sparkle with love.  In the days of covid, maybe making your home feel more like a romantic hub is more inviting than a night out.  Here are some of our Valentine’s decor tips.

Hearts Aplenty

The story behind Valentine’s Day is a bit convoluted, but you don’t necessarily need to (or want to) know all of the paths society has taken to settle on chocolates and jewelry as a way to celebrate the day.  When it comes to decorating your home, hearts are a great way to go.  But don’t go buy Valentine’s decor to only use once.  Instead, make your own Valentine’s decor to liven up your home.

One of our favorite ways to celebrate Valentine’s (and love in general) is with a string heart.  Chances are, you have most if not all of the materials available and can make your string heart with colors that can last throughout the year.  A board or some wood backing, a few nails, and some yarn are all you need for a DIY string heart.  Feel free to spruce up your artistic creation to fit your home!

Pepper Your Home With Color

Reds, pinks, and whites are the most common colors we use to associate with Valentine’s Day, so it stands to reason that you would sprinkle your home with a dash of Valentine’s spirit with some of the holiday’s most prominent colors.  For many of us, reds and pinks are a little off of the typical color wheel of our homes, but it doesn’t mean you can’t add a little Valentine’s color to your decor in subtle ways.

Small decorations, balloons, or even DIY Valentine’s banners are great ways to splash a little color into your home for Saint Valentine, but you don’t need to spend a lot to do so.  Using even color-specific touches to give your home the appearance of Valentine’s is a great way to add the colors without going all-in on the holiday.

Sweet Treats

If sweets are part of your holiday tradition for Valentine’s, then treat yourself (and your housemates) with some seasonal Valentine’s treats on display in your home.  A bowl of sweets doubles by giving your home some color, but also gives you, your family, and guests a little something to nibble on while they recline on a cold evening.  Just be careful not to eat too many chocolates.

If candy sweets aren’t exactly your thing, then consider baking cookies, Valentine’s cake, or other edible baked goods to have around as a way to welcome Valentine’s holiday.  If you’re not entirely sure what to bake or what to put out on your coffee table for the day, take a look at these Valentine’s Day dessert ideas!
